Q Station raises money for children’s charity Bear Cottage as part of National Trust Heritage celebrations

April 16, 2010

Q Station Retreat in Manly, the distinctive conference venue and historic tourism icon in the heart of Sydney Harbour National Park, held a community open day on Saturday 10 April 2010, raising money for children’s charity Bear Cottage.

As part of the annual National Trust Heritage Festival 2010 which runs from 9-24 April 2010, visitors were invited to engage in a range of activities and to learn about Q Station’s history and amazing personal stories of survival through guided history tours. A portion of proceeds from the tours will be passed on to Bear Cottage, the first and only children’s hospice in New South Wales. Thanks to generous support from tour participants, Q Station was able to raise $500 in much needed funds for the charity.

Q Station Retreat is a big supporter of Bear Cottage and has been working with the charity for two years. For Christmas 2009, Q Station donated $8,000 to Bear Cottage instead of purchasing Christmas cards and gifts. Q Station Retreat will be holding an open day again in September 2010 with hopes to raise more money for Bear Cottage.
