WELCOME NOTE

Welcome to our third e-newsletter for 2007.

This month we are featuring destination highlights of the Americas - our wonderful DMCs in North, South and Central America.

New DMS Logo
On 1 July, DMS celebrated its 15th birthday and to mark the occasion, we unveiled our new logo!   We wanted to update and encapsulate more of what DMS offers to the Business Events industry - we really do have global contacts and can connect you to the world.  You might also have noticed our new banner on our newsletters and email blasts featuring some of the world’s well known destination icons.

Pacific World Meeting in Phuket
July 2007 saw Managing Director Leila Fiedler, Business Development Manager Lise Angus and I heading to Phuket for the Annual Pacific World Marketing Meeting.  Pacific World is the leading DMC in South East Asia and we are so pleased to have now been working with them for over 13 years.  Pacific World has had a change in ownership in the last year and is currently making major changes within their leisure, FIT and Cruise divisions. However, for the Australian and New Zealand Meeting and Incentive markets, the good news is the brand Pacific World will remain and the excellent staff at Pacific World are all still there ready to work with you on your next program!  For all the latest news and information about Phuket, please click here to read the familiarisation report.

Rugby World Cup and claiming back your Value Added Taxes (VAT)
Rugby World Cup will soon be upon us and there are many Australian and New Zealand groups heading to France and Wales.  Don't forget there are excellent opportunities for your groups to reclaim some of the VAT they are paying.  It is best to set up the paperwork BEFORE the groups travel, so if you are interested to know if your group will qualify, please contact DMS (cei@destinationmarketing.com.au) and we can have the experts at CEI VAT Reclaim assist.  There is still time, so please don’t delay!

DMCs Visiting
Many of our overseas Destination Management Company business partners are planning to visit Australia and New Zealand over the next few months.  If you are interested in meeting any of them, please let us know and we can schedule an appointment.

In October we have representatives from:
 - Pacific World China, Thailand and Vietnam
 - Connections Tourism Management (Mauritius)

RECENT FAMILIARISATIONS

Leila, Sue and Lise recently visited Phuket for the Annual Pacific World Marketing Meeting. All the offices of Pacific World gather with their marketing representatives from around the world to discuss and plan for the next year.

While our conference schedule was very tight, we were fortunate enough to have a little spare time.  Thanks to the Pacific World team who put together a site inspection program, we were able to see and experience some of the highlights of Phuket. It is easy to see why the conference and incentive market love this island so much!
