Spain and Singapore Explored
By Sue Gaddes, Director of Sales, DMS Destination Marketing
Services
DMS and Singapore Airlines recently
took a group of incentive planners to Spain and Singapore. The
groups of agents from Sydney and New Zealand flew with Singapore
Airlines and were thrilled to experience the wonderful new
aircraft on the Singapore-Barcelona route.
Spain
The group stayed three nights in Madrid and two nights in
Barcelona, hosted by Spain's leading Destination Marketing Company
(DMC) - IBEROservice Incentives.
Highlights of the trip in Madrid included - visits to
magnificent palaces and cathedrals, dining in 300 year old
restaurants, a flamenco show, a visit to the Prado Museum, a visit
to Europe's biggest flea market, viewing the Real Madrid
Football Stadium and
day trips to the medieval and ancient cities of Toledo and
Segovia.
The beauty of Madrid lies in the fact that it is so 'authentic'.
The restaurants and venues don't need to be themed for incentive
groups. They already are and everything feels so very
'Spanish'!

In Barcelona, the group were equally impressed and a highlight
was a visit to the fantastic Gaudi buildings where the Casa Battlo
is a must-see for any
group doing a special event in Barcelona. Other highlights
included a day trip to the wonderful Sitges and of course, no
trip to Barcelona is complete without a wonderful Paella dinner
in one of the traditional restaurants down by the Port followed
by a
stroll down Las Ramblas.
Carlos de Garriz and the wonderful team at IBEROservice
Incentives
looked after our group of incentive planners so well, that all
of them vowed to return with groups! IBEROservice showed
themselves to be the masters with their destination knowledge,
good ideas and creativity, wonderful guides and most importantly, their
excellent relationships with their
suppliers.
Singapore
From Spain we flew back for a 24-hour snapshot of what's hot
in Singapore. Singapore never ceases to amaze and highlights
included accommodation and dining at the exquisite Raffles The Plaza, a visit to a private Peranakan Museum, a
wonderful new activity - walking through the Spice Gardens, a
cooking demonstration at Sun-Rice and a very different
'vegetarian foot spa'! To top off our wonderful day, a visit to
the amazing Divine Society Club followed by dinner at the China
Club with gracious hosts Bob and Gillian Guy of Pacific World,
just made our brief stay in Singapore something really special.
All the participants had a truly wonderful experience and all
our sponsors - Singapore Airlines, IBEROservice Incentives, Pacific
World Singapore and Raffles Hotels & Resorts in Singapore showed
they are truly experts in their fields and have what it takes
to make a great incentive program.
